The handle is shaped as the french flag painted in blue white and red, made similar to the flaf which had been set on the top of the cathedral of Strasbourg on the day of its lebaration, on the 23rd november 1944. The shaft is also decorated with flowers and colors, and has a music box where is painted a Lorraine Cross. It plays the French Hymn " La Marseillaise" which was composed in Strasbourg in 1892, as the Rhin army thema, before it became the Hymn of France.
